The Division of Student Affairs strives to create a transformational student experience that inspires and supports our students intellectually, physically, culturally, emotionally, and socially. Serving as the heartbeat of the campus, we are committed to a student-centered culture.  Our students are current and future leaders, scholars, and world-changers.

Fisk University's vibrant campus life helps students create their desired experience. The mission of the Division of Student Affairs is to guide our scholars through our programs and services, which are designed to enhance the learning experience and maximize potential.  The Division of Student Affairs includes Student Engagement, Residence Life and Dining Services, Student Activities, New Student Orientation (P.A.W.S),  Athletics, Counseling Center, Spirit Store, Mail Center, and Global Initiatives.

Offices of the Division of Student Affairs

Learning occurs all over the University-both inside and outside the classroom. Fisk University provides a variety of student-centered social and educational activities, academic support programs, intramurals, and residence life programming as a part of the Fisk Experience. By developing your leadership skills, providing community service opportunities, and supporting student led initiatives, The Division of Student Engagement offers student access to participate and lead co-curricular programming. The Division of Student Engagement houses Student Housing and Residence Life, Student Activities, Career Services, Student Government, Athletics, Registered Student Organizations, Greek; Life, and supports New Student Orientation Activities.

The Fisk Experience is the promotion of a high standard of values, beliefs, and the vision for the Fisk University community. By design, the Fisk Experience is a model to inspire our students intellectually, culturally, and socially.

The Division of Student Engagement embraces the Fisk Experience theme “Success is in the D.E.T.A.I.L.S.” in support of the University’s values of Diversity, Excellence, Teamwork, Accountability, Integrity, Leadership, and Service. Our goal is to prepare the entire student community to be student leaders through providing services and programs that support the beliefs of the Fisk Experience.

The Office of Global Initiatives is under the Division of Student Engagement and its goal is to provide high-quality services and support programs that meet the needs of international students at Fisk University. The services include assisting international students with their initial adjustment to life at Fisk University and in the United States; and also providing information and advising on immigration regulations helping students to understand their F-1 regulations and status maintenance.

The Office of Global Initiatives endeavors to cultivate and nurture generations of global leaders by promoting diversity, multiculturalism, and inclusion in all aspects of the Fisk experience.

  • Optional Practical Training (OPT) Employment Authorization (I-765) processing
  • Curricular Practical Training (CPT) Employment Authorization processing

The principle goal of theCounseling Center Counseling Center is to provide individual and group Counseling Services that contribute to the personal development of all students. The Fisk Counseling Center maintains a safe and academically conductive environment by committing to client confidentiality, ethical behavior and counseling practices that reflect current research. We hope to enhance the potential success of the students and promote the wellness of the whole student: emotional, social, spiritual, intellectual and physical.

Important Mail Center Reminders

  • Incoming mail and packages will be available for pick up by 1:00 p.m. daily
  • Incoming student mail will be available for pick up in the student mailboxes by 3:00 p.m. daily.
  • Outgoing mail should be dropped off no later than 2:00 p.m. daily, with the Outgoing Business Mail Form attached
  • All packages must be picked up from the Campus Mail Center within 48 hours of arrival.
