Fisk Welcomes Alumna Dorothy McKinney Wells, Ph.D. ’67 to its Founders Society

Acting President Frank Sims and Executive Vice President, Jens Frederiksen were delighted to welcome Dorothy McKinney Wells, Ph.D. ’67 to the campus to receive her $100,000 gift to Fisk.

Dr. Wells graduated from Fisk in 1967 with a Master of Arts Degree. She later received the Doctor of Education degree from Vanderbilt University in 1989. Dr. Wells and her late husband, Dr. Alexander Wells, are both graduates of HBCUs, with Dr. Alexander Wells having received degrees from both Tennessee State University and Meharry Medical College. Her daughter, Sabrina Wells-Holloway (pictured above) is, also a HBCU grad. She is a proud alumna of Meharry Medical College’s School of Dentistry.

Needless to say, the Wells’ love for HBCUs runs deep. Their generosity shows the depth of their commitment to invest in the very institutions that prepared them for a successful future and ones, like Fisk, that continue to be a springboard for future leaders and innovators.

Fisk University thanks Dr. Dorothy McKinney Wells ’67 for her generosity and for being a daughter ever on the altar.
