FISK STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN VIRTUAL JOINT DAY OF SERVICE TO HONOR LEGACY OF DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.

Fisk University its fellow local institutions will continue its tradition of celebrating the MLK Joint Day of Service on Jan. 18. However, this year will look slightly different due to the pandemic and the day will be held virtually via Zoom. On Monday students will celebrate by choosing between four nonprofit organizations and then learn about the organizations mission and ways to serve them virtually. Later in the day students will be given an opportunity to participate in some virtual service for their nonprofit of choice. After the day there will be a brief reflection period for the students to discuss their day.

Besides Fisk, participating schools include TSU, Meharry Medical College, Belmont University, Trevecca Nazarene, Lipscomb University, Vanderbilt University, and Nashville State Community College. The nonprofits students will be working with include Robert Churchwell Museum Magnet Elementary students, Turnip Green Creative Reuse, and Project Transformation.

The day is completely free, but students must register here in advance to receive the link to participate.
