Biography: Antonio Barrino

Antonio Barrino

 

Antonio Barrino serves as the Director of University Bands and Assistant Professor of Music at Fisk University. Prior to coming to Fisk, Barrino served as Coordinator of Music Education and Instructor of Music at Talladega College (2023-2025). He served as Assistant Director of Bands and Instructor of Music at Alcorn State University (2022-2023). Barrino served as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Memphis, where he supervised select student residencies and taught courses in Brasswind and Woodwind Methods (2020-2022). He worked in the capacity of Assistant Band Director and Music Arranger at Alabama State University. He attained a Bachelors of Art in Music Performance from Grambling State University in Spring 2014 and a Masters of Education in Music Education from Alabama State University in Spring of 2018. Barrino currently holds ABD status at The University of Memphis where he is completing his Ph.D in Music Education.

He is a member of Alpha Eta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated (Spring 2015); the Epsilon Rho Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi National Band Fraternity, Incorporated (Spring 2011), and the Theta Rho Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity for Music. In 2023, Barrino was inducted into the Phi Kappa Lambda Music Society at Alcorn State University, and was elected to the Music Greeks 40 Under 40 Society. Barrino is a member of the National Association for Music Education, The Alabama Music Educators Association, The Alabama Educators Association, The International Trombone Guild, The HBCU Band Directors Consortium, The National Association of Concert Bands, and the Jazz Education Network.
