Brewer Foundation Gifts $500,000 to Fisk University in Support of New Allied Sciences Building

May 21, 2025 (NASHVILLE, Tenn.) — Fisk University is proud to announce a generous $500,000 investment from the Brewer Foundation, an organization established by alumni to support science programs at their alma mater. This gift represents a commitment to furthering the university’s mission of creating opportunities for students to excel and innovate in their educational pursuits.

“We are elated by the generosity and support of the Brewer Foundation,” said Fisk University President Dr. Agenia W. Clark. “Fisk is in the midst of a campaign to raise funds for the construction of the Allied Sciences Building to open in the next 12 to 18 months. We are honored to announce that the first contribution to this campaign has come from Fisk alumni. Special thanks to the Brewer Foundation and its commitment to investing in the future of Fisk.”

The Allied Sciences Building, a 30,000-square-foot science education facility, is envisioned to be a state-of-the-art space for students to engage and learn. It will include a learning center, a coffee shop, and an atrium for students to gather. With nearly half of Fisk’s undergraduate students majoring in STEM concentrations, this building will serve as an invaluable resource for Fisk’s students.

The Brewer Foundation was established in 1998 by Alexander L. Brewer, M.D., Henry Hampton Brewer, M.D., and Lucille Brewer, who are all graduates of Fisk University.

“This foundation was created to give back to the institution that helped shape our lives,” said the foundation’s President, Dr. Janine Smith BS ’84 MA ‘87. “We are honored to follow in the footsteps of our organization’s founders and continue our enduring commitment to Fisk University’s science programs. Investments like this are essential to providing Fisk’s students with access to quality education for generations to come.”
