Thomas Lee Spann, Jr.


Thomas Spann, Jr. grew up under the musicianship of his father Thomas Lee Spann, Sr. who inspired him to play drums. His high-school band director Mack Guice II influenced him to pursue a career in music.

Mr. Spann attended Benedict College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. After graduating Cum Laude from Benedict College, Mr. Spann attended Tennessee State University where he earned a Masters Degree in Music Education. As a percussionist Mr. Spann has recently recorded music with Curtis Fields(R&B), Blended 328 (Country/Pop), and Dr. Sean Daniels (Jazz). He has performed throughout the United States and abroad, most recently in Central Asia. Thomas currently serves as an Adjunct Professor teaching Percussion/World Music at Fisk University and Applied Percussion at Tennessee State University. He continues to pursue his career as a freelance musician, and educator.
