Awarding Philosophy

Financial aid funds are available to assist student in reaching their educational goals. All students are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis and depending upon the availability of funds and financial need.  Priority will be given to students with the highest financial need which is determined by the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) based on the FAFSA results.

Awarding Practice

All federal grants and loans will be automatically awarded based on full-time enrollment and adjusted after the end of the “Add” period.  To receive campus based funding, a student must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credits).

Individual Awards

Federal Pell Grant – Federal grant funds that are based on the EFC range that is determined by the Department of Education.  A federal Pell grant unlike a loan does not have to be repaid.

Federal FSEOG Grant – The FSEOG program is administered directly by the Financial Aid Office and is therefore considered Campus Based Aid.
Federal Work-Study (FWS) – FWS provides part-time jobs for student with financial need, allowing them to earn money to assist in paying educational expenses.  The program encourages community service work and work related to the students course of study.  FWS will be awarded to students who stated on their FAFSA that they were interested in FWS.

Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loans – Subsidized and Unsubsidized loans are federal loans for eligible students to assist in meeting educational expenses.  Please review the Next Steps document link that was sent with your award notification.

Federal Perkins – The Perkins Loan program is administered by the Financial Aid Office and managed by the Finance department.  Please logon to Campus Partners website at
There are 3 sessions to complete:

  • Entrance loan interview (will need 4 references)
  • Signing of Master Promissory Note
  • Total Loan indebtedness (TLID) – accepting your total of  Perkins’ award
