Princilla Evans Morris, Ph.D

Princilla Evans Morris, Ph.D, a tenured Associate Professor of Chemistry and Executive Director of The Center for Teaching and Learning, has provided dedicated service to Fisk University in a number of capacities.  In addition to teaching and mentoring both undergraduate and graduate students, she has served as chair of the Chemistry Department, Director of Graduate Studies, Dean of General Education and Graduate Studies and Executive Vice President and Provost. Reviewer for Presidential Awards for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM).  Dr. Evans Morris received her B.A. degree in Biology from Fisk University, graduating summa cum laude and earning Phi Beta Kappa membership.  She earned the Ph.D. in Chemistry from Howard University, specializing in the area of metallo-enzyme studies.  Prior to coming to Fisk, she had a full-time appointment in the Pharmacology Department of Meharry Medical College.

Dr. Evans Morris is a member of a number of professional organizations and has received honors and awards for her teaching efforts. She was selected Most Outstanding Teacher in Division of Natural Science and Mathematics several years.  She was selected as an Extramural Associates Fellow of the National Institutes of Health and as a result, implemented Fisk’s first Office of Sponsored Programs.   She graduated from the American Council on Education (ACE) Fellows Program, a premier higher education leadership development program that prepares senior leaders to serve colleges and universities.   Dr. Evans Morris was an invited speaker for the joint meeting of Phi Beta Kappa and the American Conference of Academics Deans in 2013 where she spoke on the importance of the Liberal Arts in Education.   Additionally, she has served as a reviewer for the National Science Foundation, Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, and the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM).  She has also served as a Faculty representative to the Board of Trustees of Fisk University.
