Mabel Y. Dumenyo


Mabel Dumenyo began her new position as Coordinator of International Student Services at Fisk University in May 2009. She originally joined Fisk University Office of International Education as Administrative Assistant in November 2006. Prior to coming to the United States, she taught for eight (8) consecutive years in junior high school grades 7, 8 & 9 in her native country Ghana.  Her interest in international education originates from her personal experience as an international student in the United States.

As Coordinator and DSO (Designated School Official), she maintains F-1 international students’ database and SEVIS (Student & Exchange Visitor Information Systems); advises students on F-1 student visas, immigration rules and regulations; and coordinates students’ services and programming activities. She is responsible for managing and conducting new international student orientation and informational meetings for currently enrolled F-1international students.

Originally from Ghana, Mabel moved to the United States in 1996 with her family. She has two children, and enjoys cooking and helping international students adjust to life in the United States. She is a member of NAFSA (Association of International Educators).
