Kim Merrill

Kim is a visiting instructor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Fisk University for the Fall 2018 semester. She comes to Fisk from Google in Seattle, Washington, where she works as a senior software engineer and technical lead on the Google Cloud Platform.

Kim joins Fisk as a part of the Google In Residence (GIR) program. GIR was founded by Google in 2013 with the mission to grow and support a more diverse tech pipeline. The program embeds Google engineers at HBCUs and HSIs across the country to serve as visiting lecturers for the schools' introductory CS courses. GIR instructors bring an industry perspective to campus, and work with the community to develop a strong CS curriculum, to support students in the job and internship search, and to grow student engagement in technical fields.
