Richard Wallace
Student Representative
2021-2022 Vice President, Student Government Association

Richard Wallace is a senior English and Spanish joint major from Chicago, Illinois. He is the youngest son of Earl and Pamela Wallace and the brother of Earl and Jeanell Taylor. After moving from the city of Chicago to the South Suburbs, Richard attended Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Throughout his matriculation through high school, Richard was very involved in the Student Government Association and other clubs and organizations at school. He served on the Student Government Association as a class representative for 2 years, and then served as the Senior Class Treasurer in his last year. In serving these positions is where he was introduced to his love and constant want to be involved in the Student Government Association. Richard made the decision to attend Fisk University early on in his senior year because when visiting the campus, it felt like home. Right when he stepped on campus, he immediately wanted to get involved in the Student Government Association.

During his freshman year, he served as the Freshman Class Senator and ran on the campaign “Put Fisk on the Map.” During his tenure as a Freshman Senator, Richard worked with his cabinet in planning many events for his class while also running the class social media page. In transitioning to his sophomore year, Richard served as the Student Government Association Publications Director running under the platform “Picture This...” During his tenure as Publications Director, Richard ran the SGA social media accounts as well as FiskFaces. He wanted to use his position in the Student Government Association to be able to picture the moments in which students achieved their goals.

Additionally, while doing this, Richard helped his cabinet in planning events for students as well as town hall meetings and grievance events. Moving on into his junior year, Richard returned to the Student Government Association as the Publications Director for his second term. During this term, Richard reinstated The Bulldog Bulletin which serves as a student newsletter that includes important upcoming dates, events happening on campus, and student highlights. Through all of the leadership roles he has served on campus, Richard felt prepared and willing to run for the position of Student Government Association President going into his senior year. He ran under the platform titled “The RichYear Playlist” which promoted Togetherness and Unity while showcasing Individuality and everyone coming together to produce one goal. He wanted to use his platform to stress to students the importance of utilizing each other as their greatest resource. He did this by collaborating with many organizations on campus for events to show the unity that Fisk University could offer. Although Richard was not elected to the Student Government Association, he was elated to accept the position as the Vice President.

During his tenure as the Student Government Association’s Vice President, Richard plans to fulfill everything he wished to do if were to have been elected as President. He feels as though students utilizing each other and working together will help Fisk continue with its family atmosphere for many years to come.

Aside from his work in the Student Government Association, Richard also owns his own business: RichQuality Media which provides services in Photography/Videography Production & Editing as well as logo and graphic design. So far, he has had the pleasure of working with many clients and is currently in the process of expanding his business. After his commencement from Fisk University, Richard plans to continue his passion of running his business and making memories last a lifetime while pursuing a career in the Advertising/Marketing Agency. In his career, Richard’s goal is to be able to manage and oversee an HBCU Inclusion Internship Program for young African Americans who have an interest in photography, videography, graphic design, marketing, and advertising to be able to showcase their skills and talents to the world.
