Patty Delony was the owner and principal of Delony Associates, an independent consulting firm that specialized in business research, analysis and writing, for 25 years until her retirement in 2012. Among her clients were major corporations and prominent financial institutions, as well as smaller investment managers and consultants. Projects included annual and interim reports for corporations and mutual funds; offering memoranda used by investment bankers to present companies for sale to potential buyers; business plans for use in seeking financing from venture capital firms or other sources; ghost-written articles for business publications; and speeches on a variety of business topics.

Before establishing Delony Associates in 1987, she was a vice president of Sara Lee Corporation, with responsibility first for investor relations and then for strategic planning and acquisitions for a group of the corporation’s operating divisions. Earlier in her career, she was a securities analyst, portfolio manager and economist for the investment counseling subsidiary of a major Southeastern bank. Her educational background includes an undergraduate degree in economics from Duke University and an MBA in finance from Georgia State University, where she received an award for the highest academic average. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst and has completed Harvard Business School's Strategic Marketing Management program. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, she attended Nashville public schools and Harpeth Hall School.

She has served on not-for-profit boards including the Midwest Women’s Center, The Three Arts Club of Chicago and Arts Bridge, and as treasurer of her condominium association’s board. She also served on the board of The Kenwood Funds. Professional memberships include the Chicago Finance Exchange and the Economic Club of Chicago. She is a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago and an affiliate member of West End United Methodist Church in Nashville. She serves on the board of trustees of Harpeth Hall School in Nashville.
