Linda Brown Coleman '70, PH.D.
Linda E. Brown Coleman, Ph.D. is Chief Executive Officer of R & L Group, Inc. (1993-present), a private corporation providing services to individuals with special needs in the Houston and Dallas areas through a contract with the state of Texas.
A 1970 graduate of Fisk University, with a B.A. in Sociology, Dr. Coleman received her M.A. in Sociology from Texas Southern University and her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Houston.
Prior to her election as the Chair of the General Alumni Association of Fisk University, Inc., Dr. Coleman served as the Association’s Vice Chair. She is the past Chair of the Southwest Region and an active member of the Houston Fisk Club.
Dr. Coleman’s career in the field of education spanned 30 years in the State of Texas. Her career includes teaching in the public schools of Bryan, Texas and Houston, Texas. Having served as a Professor of Sociology at Houston Community College and Texas Southern University, Dr. Coleman retired from San Jacinto College in 2000. Her community activities include serving as a former board member at St. Mary’s, Project Row House and Martin Luther King Community Center. She is currently a board member at Parish School.
Dr. Coleman and her husband, Charley, are the parents of six daughters and grandparents of four (3 girls and 1 boy).
