Jacquelyn Denton Alton is President of Almeda Travel. She is responsible for the overall management of all government, military, corporate and leisure operations nationwide. Almeda Travel was founded in 1977 by Jacquelyn and her late husband Washington I. Alton. Today Almeda Travel is the 2nd largest African American owned travel agency in the United States.

Mrs. Alton is the immediate past President of the Society of Government Professionals, an organization which is the National Forum for the $70 Billion Government Travel Market. She was named Person of the Year in 2005 for this organization. Mrs. Alton served for five years on the United States House of Representatives Travel and Tourism Caucus. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Houston Convention Visitors Bureau, Institute for the Association of Travel Agents, Houston Executive Women in Travel and President of Inter American Travel Agents Society for two terms. Mrs. Alton is a Life Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and a Life Member of the NAACP. She presently serves as President of the Houston Chapter of Links, Inc. and is an active member of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church.

Mrs. Alton received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fisk University in 1966, and a Masters of Education from Howard University. She received from Wellesley College a Certified Travel Counselor Degree.

Jacquelyn is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas and has two adult children, Kimberley Alton and W. Reynard Alton. She was married to the late Washington I. Alton (Fisk Class of 1966) for 29 years.
