About Nashville

Nashville is a progressive and sophisticated city of approximately 570,000.  The metropolitan area, which includes Nashville/Davidson County and the seven surrounding counties, has a population of 1.2 million people.  Nashville continues to be one of the fastest- growing cities in the nation. The influx of people has given rise to a truly diverse social fabric. The largest minority population is African-American, and other neighbors include Somalians, Haitians, Mexicans, Cubans, Vietnamese, Kurds and Iranians.

New world class attractions like the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, the Tennessee Titans NFL team, the Nashville Predators NHL team, the Main Branch of the Metropolitan Public Library, and the new Country Music Hall of Fame have helped redefine contemporary Nashville.  The city is also home to sixteen colleges and universities, including Fisk, Belmont, Lipscomb, Meharry, Tennessee State, Trevecca and Vanderbilt.
