Natara K. Garvin

About

Natara K. Garvin has been a member of the Fisk University team since February 2011, and currently serves as the Dean of Student Engagement. Natara is a native of North Little Rock, Arkansas. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas and her Master of Arts degree from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. She is currently pursuing Doctor of Education degree in Higher Education and Administration at Tennessee State University. 

Prior to joining Fisk University, Natara served as a Site Director for the Early Childhood Programs of North Little Rock School District, an Early Intervention Specialist for the Bay Area Rehabilitation Center in Baytown, Texas, and an Adjunct Speech Communications Professor at Motlow State Community College. 

Natara is very active in Rutherford County, where she resides. She serves as a Friends of Smyrna Library Board Member, a member of Rutherford County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She is affiliated with several professional organizations and is a 2011 graduate of Leadership Rutherford.

Natara is married to Richard P. Garvin, Jr. and has a son.
