Mattie McHollin

About

A long-time African-American history buff, Mattie McHollin established and organized Special Collections and Archives at Meharry Medical College and assisted in organizing and establishing the Tennessee State University Archives in the mid 70’s. As a charter member of the Wilson County Black History Committee, she conducted research on county citizens from the 1800s to 1999, resulting in the first published history of African Americans in in Wilson County Tennessee.

Presently serving as archivist at Fisk University, Mattie processes and organizes historical manuscripts for the Special Collections and Archives Department. Her work helps preserve the history of Fisk and the personal collections entrusted to our care, and facilitates access to historical resources for scholars.
