Lois A Fleming
Lois A Fleming has worked in fundraising for over 20 years. She currently serves as Director of Advancement Services at Fisk University where she manages overall functions of advancement operations and administration, including gift processing, records and data management, to production of reports and statistics. She was responsible for a successful conversion to Raiser's Edge fundraising data base system and currently supervises the use of the Raiser’s Edge data base. Most recently she facilitated the launch of Raiser's Edge NetCommunity for processing online credit card and direct debit transactions.
Before coming to Fisk Ms. Fleming served as Director of Development and Marketing for Volunteers of America's Tennessee operations where she was responsible for all fundraising and marketing initiatives.
Ms. Fleming previously worked at a local private secondary school in fundraising and development for 14 years where she served for four years as Development Assistant, five years as Development Coordinator where she was responsible for event planning, data base administration, budget, daily office management, preparing bulk mailings and implementing the annual giving fund drive. She moved into the position of Director of External Affairs where she was responsible for the overall advertising, media relations and public relations programs of Father Ryan High School, writing for and editing a quarterly alumni magazine. In addition to stewardship, marketing, and producing the alumni magazine and annual report, she planned and managed the fundraising gala and auction with up to 700 guests.
Early in Ms. Fleming's career she assisted homeowners in danger of foreclosure as a HUD Housing Counselor where she negotiated agreements with mortgage lenders and provided financial management counseling to homeowners. She also headed a successful start-up and subsequent operation of a credit union for low-income families through a community action agency.
