LaMetrius Daniels joined the Fisk family on September 26, 2011 as the Dean of Student Engagement. As Dean of Student Engagement, she oversaw the Office of Career Development and Leadership, Student Development and Programs, Judicial Affairs, Student Government, Greek Life and the Counseling Center.
Ms. Daniels brings eight years of experience in higher education including four years as a faculty member at Meridian Community College and Mississippi State University, and four years as an instructional designer and Director of Distance Learning at the University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa and Meridian Community College, respectively.
She also taught two years at West Oktibbeha County High School in Starkville, Mississippi.
Ms. Daniels earned her B.S. in Information Technology and M.S. in Instructional Technology from Mississippi State University. She is presently a candidate for the Ph.D. in Instructional Systems &Technology at Mississippi State University and expects to receive her degree in May 2013. Her dissertation focuses on student learning outcomes and retention in distance learning.
Ms. Daniels possesses Mississippi teacher’s certification in business education and computer application and she is a Certified Blackboard Administrator.
Now at Fisk, she currently oversees the technology department. She has developed a partnership with Dell with Fisk University, a program for students to receive free Microsoft Office and other Microsoft discounts. Also, Microsoft discounts for faculty and staff. She continues to improve the infrastructure and implement best practices in using technology effectively at Fisk University.
