Edwina Harris Hamby, Ph.D.

About

Dr. Edwina Harris Hamby brings more than 35 years of experience in higher education to her alma mater.  Her previous academic appointments include:  Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Tougaloo College; University Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Vice President for Sponsored Research, Development and Multi-Institutional Programs, The City University of New York System; Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Medgar Evers College/CUNY; Founding Director, AHEC Programs of Tennessee, School of Medicine and Assistant Professor & Administrator, Department of Family Medicine, Meharry Medical College; Dean of Admission & Executive Director of Alumni Affairs and Annual Giving, Fisk University; Associate Director of Sponsored Research and Training, Vanderbilt University; and Director of the Freshman and Sophomore Basic Studies Division, Bowie State College. 

She has held faculty appointments in the health sciences, education and English at New York City Technical College and Medgar Evers College in The City University of New York System, in family medicine at Meharry Medical College, and in English and education at Bowie State College and the University of Maryland’s University College.  Dr. Hamby’s non-academic experiences include service as National Director of Research for the International Association of Fire Fighters/ AFL-CIO and Vice President of Resource Development for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee.  Dr. Hamby is a seasoned grants developer/ writer and administrator.  She has written proposals on diverse topics that resulted in funding totaling over $500,000,000.
