Dennis P. McNamee, J.D., M.P.A., Esq

About

Dr. McNamee has seventeen years’ experience as a university lecturer. His areas of instruction are: law, ethics, applied mathematics, management, and financial investment (U.S. and International investment). He currently holds adjunct appointments at Fisk University, Nashville, Tennessee, in the general business major, the music business major, and the health care management major.  He taught business and economics at Vanderbilt University from 1997 to 2004, and he has been at Fisk University since January 2003.

A strong proponent of computer and Internet literacy, Dr. McNamee's experience with computers began with program training in Cobol and Fortran languages. His earliest memories of computers are of key punched cards and call programs on archaic IBM computers at The Ohio State University. His knowledge has expanded to include additional programming languages such as HTML, HTML5, XML, and others. All of his courses include exercises requiring the use of different computer applications, as well as business skills such as linear programming and production design flow charting.

As a public servant, Dr. McNamee has fifteen years in the military in the enlisted and officer ranks. During his career he has served in state government as a socioeconomic analyst, and as the Legal Services Director and General Counsel for the Tennessee Regulatory Authority. His business legal experience includes practicing as an attorney in banking and investments. He retired from active practice before the courts in 2005 after appearing before the trial and appellate courts in Ohio, Tennessee, and before the United States Supreme Court on two occasions. He insures that his license remains current, and that he continues to perform research as well as continuing legal education to benefit his students.

As a volunteer, Dr. McNamee spent forty years with the Boy Scouts of America, as a unit leader (Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venture Crew) and member of the commissioner service. He retired from his service in November 2011 after both of his children had earned the highest ranks attainable in their programs and enrolled in college.

He serves currently with Alpha Phi Omega national service fraternity (Omega Lambda Chapter at Fisk University),as the faculty adviser; and the Knights of Columbus at Saint Ann Catholic Church in Nashville, Tennessee, where he is the council recorder.
