AESP collaborates with, oversees, coordinates, and manages the following diverse services to support Fisk students who are experiencing academic difficulty as well as students who desire to improve their academic performance. Â
Although AESP services are available to all students, those who are conditionally admitted and in poor academic standing are required to enroll in tutoring, actively participate in academic skills workshops, and meet with AESP advisors on a scheduled basis. To ensure that the necessary support is in place, AESP academic advisors and faculty advisors will monitor and track their progress.
Faculty is strongly encouraged to refer students for services by completing and submitting an Early Intervention Report.
Students may request services by completing and submitting an AESP Record of Student Complaint or Tutor Request Form. A student may need additional assistance in writing, reading, or mathematics. The student's academic advisor and/or faculty advisor will ensure that he/she receives the appropriate supplemental instruction or tutorial services through the Writing Center and Math Lab. The advisor will also interface with the Living Learning Center Coordinator in the student's residence hall and make sure that he/she is receiving services during the evening hours.
