Admission to Fisk is, and traditionally has been, selective. Today's entering students are typically ranked in the top fifth of their high school classes. Almost all ranked in the top half.  We seek to enroll men and women who will benefit from a liberal arts experience and equip them for intellectual and social leadership. FISK looks for strong academic achievement combined with personal characteristics such as creativity, motivation, curiosity, community service, and leadership ability. Academic strength is always the starting point for assessing a student’s candidacy. However, there is no single formula or strategy that one may utilize to gain admission to Fisk. If you have been very successful in high school and believe that Fisk would be the right place for you, there are several ways to make application to Fisk: 1) regular paper application, the Common Application, the EDU Online application, or our online application

About Us

Fisk University seeks to admit talented students that have a demonstrated commitment to academic excellence. Each applicant is given a holistic review of the required materials and a determination is made of those students who will be the best fit for the University. The four-year graduation rate is 70%, five year is 76% and six-year is 82%. Our retention rate is 85%. The freshmen-sophomore retention rate is 92%. While many students enter Fisk "undeclared" in terms of academic major, one-third of each entering class majors in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, or Computer Science. Other popular majors include Nursing, Psychology, Music and Business Administration.
