Cathy Martin

Bio

Dr. Martin teaches Core Mathematics, Statistics for the Natural Sciences, Calculus I, II and III, Precalculus, and College Algebra Fisk University. She has particular interest in promoting mathematical competence at all levels of academic study, investigating health disparities, and in developing an applied mathematics track for students in the School of Natural Science, Mathematics, and Business. As part of her outreach to public education and generating a pipeline of students prepared for advanced mathematics, Dr Martin has been involved with the SITES-M (Strengthening Instruction in Tennessee Elementary Schools – Focus on Mathematics) project for several years as Assessment Coordinator. SITES-M is a collaborative effort between the Educational Testing Service (ETS) and the Tennessee Department of Education.

During her years in Michigan, Dr Martin taught Mathematics at Eastern Michigan University and later worked as a Statistician with the Warner Lambert/ Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Research Division. Dr Martin initially joined Fisk as Associate Provost and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs
