Bio

Ms. McCarroll is a lecturer in Biology in the Department of Life and Physical Sciences. Her efforts in teaching General Biology, Plant Physiology, and Natural Science in the General Education ( Core ) Curriculum have earned her recognition as Teacher of the Year (1991, 1994 and 1996) and Academic Advisor of the Year (1991 and 1993). In addition to her instructional responsibilities, she is the coordinator of the Core Curriculum, the New Student Orientation course and the director of the Summer Pre-College Program. Ms McCarroll is a recipient of the Sears Roebuck Foundation, Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership award and nominee for the National Resource Center on the Freshmen Year Experience Freshmen Advocate Award.

Ms McCarroll’s research interest focuses on Medicinal Plants and their Antimicrobial and Anti-tumor Properties.

Ms McCarroll serves as the campus sponsor for Beta Kappa Chi Scientific Honor Society and the secretary for the Delta of Tennessee Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa housed at Fisk University.
