A MILESTONE FOR FISK UNIVERSITY SAFETY...

FIRST "IN-HOUSE", ALL FISK UNIVERSITY PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT

It is with much eagerness and pride that we announce that the Department of Public Safety is now staffed by all new Fisk University employees and not by contract services. Each shift is under the leadership of very qualified Shift Commanders further staffed with Shift Sergeants and Staff Officers.

TRAINING: Each officer employed already has qualified credentials and state required training, however, they will all receive a minimum of forty (40) annual hours of in-service training during the year. Their training curriculum will include examples of the following; Conflict Resolution, Engagement, Encounters, Legal, Survival, Crisis Intervention, Active Shooter, Emergency Preparedness and response, Patrol, Written and Verbal communications, Greek Affairs, Student Affairs, Metro Police, Metro Fire and Rescue. Incident based training and role play with practical application scenarios are also included in the training program.
SHIFTS: There are three (3) shifts; 1st shift 7:00 am—3:00 pm; 2nd shift 3:00 pm—11:00 pm; and 3rd shift 11:00 pm—7:00 am.
