Bio

Dr. Cargill’s experience spans over 20 years in education and in industry as a professor of economics and business, an administrator, a financial officer, business consultant, and an accountant.

Dr. Cargill is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Administration at Fisk University since 1999. He has served as department chair from 2006 to 2010. He has also served as Chair of Business Division, Voorhees College, 1995-96; Professor of Business Administration, Voorhees College, 1995-98; Acting Chair, Dept. of Business, Oakwood College, 1982-94; Associate Professor, Business and Economics, Oakwood College, 1982-94.

He was Accountant and Financial Manager, Southeast Adolescent Program 1988-94; Accountant, Berrien County Youth Services Bureau, 1976-82; and VP for Finance and Chief Accountant, West Indies College, 1969-74.

He has been very active in professional and community work. He has given Reading Lecture at Alabama A&M University (Fall 2006) and was involved in Alabama Reading Initiative – how to teach reading more effectively. As a member of Building Leadership Team (BLT) committee, he reviewed and formulated academic and non-academic related school policies. He is a member of several committees and teams: Professional Learning Team (PLT) Committee, Pacing Guide Committee, Mobile Math Implementation (MMI) committee, Building Base Student Support Team (BBSST).

Dr. Cargill has received “Sam Walton Fellow Award” for Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE). He received “Certificate of Recognition” for grant writing at Oakwood College. He received “Risk Management Service Award” for outstanding research in Risk Management. He is a Board Member of the City of Huntsville, AL. He produced over $1M in funded proposal. He has served as the president of the faculty senate for Voorhees College

Dr. Cargill received Ph.D. in Economics (1982) from University of Notre Dame and MBA in Management (1975) from Andrews University, Michigan.
