Joint Pre-Med Program
Fisk offers a joint program with nearby Meharry Medical College, permitting the Fisk student who is admitted to the joint program as a freshman to enter Meharry as a candidate for a medical (M.D.), dental (D.D.S.), or research (Ph.D.) degree after three years of undergraduate study, supplemented with summer research experiences at Meharry. Admission to Meharry can be assured in advance for those students who apply to the joint program as Fisk freshmen and who perform satisfactorily in their Fisk studies and on the Medical College Admission Test.

Bachelor of Science/Doctor of Medicine Program
Fisk University and Meharry Medical College have a partnership designed to increase the number of African-American physicians. Upon acceptance into the BS/MD/DDS program, students receive conditional acceptance into Meharry's School of Medicine. The length of the entire program is seven or eight years from entrance into the BS/MD/DDS program at the undergraduate level through graduation from Meharry. This includes three or four years of undergraduate study at Fisk University and four years of medical education at Meharry Medical College. Students selected to participate in the program must agree to attend a six-week summer academic and clinical enrichment program at Meharry Medical College beginning the summer following the freshman year. Prospective first-time freshmen applicants for the Fisk University/Meharry Medical College BS/MD/DDS Program must have:

  • A minimum ACT composite score of 23 or SAT 1 equivalent (1590)
  • A minimum overall grade point average of 3.4 (un-weighted) on a 4.0 scale
  • "B" or better in Biology, Chemistry, and advanced math courses
