Thank you for visiting the Webpage of the Office of the Provost. Part of our mission at Fisk University is to provide our students with a rich academic experience steeped in liberal arts tradition. Our vision “to be the best small liberal arts university in America” directs us to provide a comprehensive academic curriculum that prepares students who are skilled, resourceful, and imaginative enough to effectively address the challenges of life in a sophisticated and global society. With the support of a very dedicated and experienced faculty, the Office of the Provost at Fisk assists members of the University community in a variety of ways in the area of Academic Affairs.

To maintain a strong record of excellence in teaching and to encourage the creation of new knowledge through research and scholarly activity, the Office of the Provost supports Fisk faculty with the development of courses, programs, course schedules, and academic policies and procedures. We also assist with the selection of new faculty, the evaluation of faculty and facilitate faculty development through workshops, mentorship programs and participation in professional grant institutes and conferences.

Our students come to Fisk seeking an environment that is conducive to learning and personal development. The Office of the Provost assists students in achieving academic excellence through scholarship programs, academic advising and guidance. Our Joint or Dual Degree Programs, the Academic Advisor, the International Exchange and Education Center, the English and Mathematics Laboratories, the various Learning Centers, the L.E.A.D. program, the W.E.B. Dubois General University Honors Program and the Exceptional Scholars Program are a few examples of the structures we put in place to facilitate our students’ growth.

Hopefully, some of your concerns and questions will be addressed through this page and within the other pages of the Fisk University website. If not, feel free to visit or call our office at 615-329-8681.
