Domestic exchange programs are currently available with the following universities and colleges. This exchange is an opportunity open to sophomore and junior students with appropriate academic preparation and motivation.

 

(A).Ripon College - Ripon, Wisconsin

 

  • Fisk University and Ripon College continue to strengthen the efforts to provide opportunities for exchanges of students, faculty, and staff.  These exchanges may be of short or long duration, ranging from just a few days to as much as a semester or year-long. 
  • Fisk University and Ripon College provide a joint conference including students, faculty, and staff, anually, to address the broad range of issues around the idea of membership in a multiracial, and multicultural society.

 


 

Ripon College and Fisk University agree that: 

  • All tuition and activity fees, with the exception of room and board fees, will be paid to the home institution.  Financial aid calculations will be based upon home tuition and host room and board costs.
  • Room and board fees will be paid to the host institution. 
  1. Students intending to participate in the exchange should:
    a. notify the International Education Enrichment and Exchange Center (IEEEC)
    b. obtain catalog and course offering lists and semester schedule from the perspective host campus or from IEEEC.
    c. prepare and submit a Study Away Form to ensure academic approval.
    d. notify home campus registrar, housing, financial aid office and faculty academic advisor.
    e. determine major and/or minor completion, athletics and other activities and programs.
  2. Students who have completed step three should provide their faculty academic advisors and IEEEC with their plan for the exchange semester as well as a description of the way in which this plan fits within the structure of their overall academic plan.

 


Eligibility

Admission to this program is based on the quality of the application. Candidates must present a coherent academic rationale for participation in the Ripon Exchange Program and a record of academic performance that demonstrates ability to meet the challenges of off-campus study. A GPA of at least 2.8 is a requirement.  Candidates for the Exchange must also present evidence of maturity, responsibility and cultural sensitivity.

Students currently on disciplinary, social, or academic probation are not eligible to apply for, or participate in, off-campus study programs.

 

Application and Acceptance

Students follow the standard application procedure for Fisk off-campus programs using the regular application forms available in the International Education Enrichment and Exchange Center.  The applications of the students who are selected to participate will be forwarded to Ripon College for final approval.

 

Academics and Credit

It is the responsibility of students to have the courses they intend to take approved by the department chairs.  Some departments may limit the number of courses taken off-campus that may count toward a major, or they may other regulations about how such courses transfer. It is essential that students confer with their advisors and department chairpersons well in advance of leaving for Ripon. In order to get full academic credit for a semester's work at Ripon, Fisk students must take at least twelve semester hours. 

 

Costs

Students going to Ripon pays the Fisk University comprehensive fees.  Any financial aid is automatically applied toward the program. Costs include tuition, room and board.  It does not include transportation to the program, health insurance, books or personal expenses.  Accident and sickness insurance is required.

 

Housing

All Fisk undergraduates are required to live in the University residence halls.  Ripon students will do the same at Fisk University.  Students supply their own linen (pillows, spreads, blankets, towels, washcloths) and other room accessories. 

(B).Case Western Reserve University - Cleveland, Ohio

The Fisk/Case exchange program offers students a unique educational opportunity to experience student life at Case Western Reserve University and Fisk University. The exchange program is designed to allow up to four (4) Fisk undergraduate students to enroll for one semester at Case Western Reserve University. (D). St Lawrence University - Canton, New York Students planning to study at St Lawrence University should meet with their advisors well in advance in order to plan a tentative program of study while participating in the St. Lawrence Program and, as far as possible, the remainder of their undergraduate careers.

  • The Exchange program with St. Lawrence University is in Canton, New York

  • Fisk students attend SLU in the fall; SLU students attend Fisk in the spring

  • Courses in all disciplines at St. Lawrence are open to Fisk students

 

Eligibility

This exchange is an opportunity open to sophomore and junior students with appropriate academic preparation, motivation, and interest in the relevant area. Students must have completed at least one course with significant African American Culture or history content.

Admission to this program is based on the quality of application. Candidates must present a coherent academic rationale for participation in the St. Lawrence Exchange Program and a record of academic performance that demonstrates ability to meet the challenges of off-campus study. Normally, this means a GPA of at least 2.8.  Candidates for the Exchange must also present evidence of maturity, responsibility and cultural sensitivity.

Students currently on disciplinary, social, or academic probation are not eligible to apply for, or participate in, off-campus study programs. In addition, students with outstanding disciplinary fines or education program requirements are not eligible to participate in the program.

 

Application and Acceptance

Students follow the standard application procedure for Fisk off-campus programs, using the regular application forms available in the International Education Enrichment and Exchange Center.  The applications of the students who are selected to participate will be forwarded to St Lawrence University for final approval. Completed applications for the St. Lawrence Exchange Program must be submitted to the Center for International and Intercultural Studies by September 25. Normally, decision letters are sent out before Thanksgiving.

 

Academics and Credit

Some departments may limit the number of courses taken off-campus that may count toward a major, or they may have other regulations about how such courses transfer. It is essential that students confer with their advisors and department chairpersons well in advance of leaving for St. Lawrence in order to plan their academic programs and avoid problems. In order to get full academic credit for a semester's work at St. Lawrence, Fisk student must take at least twelve semester hours.  With prior approval from the appropriate Fisk department chair, students may take courses offered at St. Lawrence as long as the student is qualified and there is space.
